Patrick Swinton’s Old World German Shepherd Dog named Diezel
Typical of old world lines, our GSD named Diezel is considered over-sized for today’s standards. He is “INTACT” straight-backed and has a large wide head, as well as being big-boned and is generally calmer than any of our previous German Shepherd Dogs. He has a family style temperament while still being always alert and protective. The breeder claims their dogs are excellent search and rescue dogs, high obedience, guide dogs for the blind, and other service dogs. I totally agree. He is very intelligent, calm and easy to train. He loves everyone and has a good ball drive and is ball protective. He is not one to bark much. He will bark, but infrequently. He is a very verbal dog however. He can nearly whine and talk in complete sentences. I’m just glad he doesn’t have human vocal cords or he would talk our ears off. When Diezel does use his big dog voice you know he is not comfortable with some situation. He is very good with all other dogs except one. Our neighbor’s German Short-hair alpha rolled Diezel when Diezel was about 4 months old. Diezel has never forgotten and has gotten has payback a few times now. Overall Diezel is calm – is a plush coat – straight backed – heavily built – INTACT – GSD dog. He is 29″ at the shoulders and 40″ from his nose to hind quarters. The fact that he is a “huge” German Shepherd is just a secondary plus! Don’t let his size fool you. He is fast, agile, nimble and powerful. Watch out when you stop by the house. He loves company and the attention. He has been known to put his paws on your shoulders, look you square in the eyes and proceed to lick your face.
Diezel is the son of Kodiak Bear of Iowa’s Royalair Kennel http://www.royalair.org/codypics.html
